2-Step Prompt

Why am I seeing this page?

If you saw a prompt with green buttons for 2-Step Verification after you logged in with your CalNet ID and passphrase, you are enrolled in CalNet 2-Step. Otherwise, please see the next question for  details on how to enroll in 2-Step.

How do I enroll in CalNet 2-Step?

If you're required to do 2-Step and missed your deadline, go to any app that uses CAS, such as CalNet Account Manager (CAM), and sign in using the Log In link. Make sure that you have your 2-Step device ready, such as your smartphone. You will see a green Start setup button. Click that to begin.

If you're not yet required to do 2-Step, log into CalNet Account Manager (CAM)  and click on the Manage 2-Step Verification menu item, then follow the instructions on the Device Control Panel.

How do I set up another 2-Step device or manage my 2-Step settings?

G to CalNet Account Manager (CAM) to add or delete a 2-Step device and manage your 2-Step settings. I replaced my phone with a new one. What do I do?

If you have backup passcodes or a second 2-Step device enrolled, go to CalNet Account Manager (CAM) and use either for the 2-Step prompt. If you don't have backup passcodes or a second 2-Step device, but your new phone has the old phone's number, you can still use CAM to obtain new passcodes as follows:

At the 2-Step prompt, click on the green Enter a Passcode button, then use the blue Text me new codes button to request new passcodes to use with 2-Step. When you are signed in to CAM, select Manage 2-Step Verification and at the Device Control Panel, select Enter a Passcode. Use another passcode to authenticate with 2-Step again using the green buttons, and you'll be taken to the My Settings & Devices panel. Here you can find options to reactivate CalNet 2-Step for your new device using an existing phone number.

If you don’t have backup passcodes or a second 2-Step device, and your new phone has a different number, contact calnet2-stephelp@berkeley.edu for help.
