Welcome to our new CISO - Jeremy Rosenberg!

May 2, 2018

Change is afoot in the CalNet team!

We are pleased to announce that our long-time manager Jeremy Rosenberg has been promoted to the position of Chief Information Security Officer for UC Berkeley. The recruitment for a new CISO was a long process and we were fortunate to have a number of qualified and capable candidates apply. Jeremy bested them all, and stepped into his new position of CISO effective May 1.

While at CalNet, Jeremy spearheaded huge changes to the CalNet stack. We’ve upgraded our systems and servers, implemented sophisticated group management, rolled out the CalNet 2-Step Verification, and created a brand new Berkeley Person Registry that replaced really old and outdated identity management code. Our new systems are the envy of other campuses.

Moving forward, Jeremy will be overseeing the entire Information Security portfolio in IST, including teams that are working on upgrading the firewall, network segmentation, and hardening our Active Directory, as well as those who protect the campus from sophisticated cyber attacks on a daily basis. He’ll also need to find his replacement as Manager of the CalNet Team -- which will be no small feat.

Join us in celebrating Jeremy’s new position, even as we on the CalNet team mourn the loss of our leader!
